Music and memories...

We packed up the Hi Fi today, including the fabulous Linn Sondek LP12 vinyl turntable.
It is a work of art looking after this deck, with its heavy platter and belt, but the sound it can generate from albums is like no other. There is something about vinyl audio that is so involving and compelling compared with digital.
All the components will be switched over to US fuses by a specialist in Kingston and then they will all be packed away for a year.

Judy and I set off for Kingston and then, traffic backed up for miles and we crawled along for nearly an hour. At that point a big red STOP sign lit up on the dashboard.... the car was overheating. I rang for advice and was told to let it all cool down for a while and.... drive home.

So here we are back in Dorking, mission unaccomplished, with the car  booked in for a check up on Friday.

To add a happier note to the above post, the car cooled off when it got going...
I think this will be true of us as well!

This afternoon I have a fitting with an amazing friend who is a Saville Row tailor/seamstress. She will be altering a beautiful gown I purchased in Rochester last October. It is black with little crystal beads and the effect is rather like a perfect starlit sky, in dress-form. I have found shoes and a little bag to complete the outfit.

There are actually 3 formal nights on board Queen Mary 2, the above is for the black and white night...I am finding it so exciting, like an amazing prom without any of the angst. (Well, almost none, Nicholas wanted to see Titanic in 3D, I complied, yes...I know...) If I am honest, I feel like a princess when I put on my gowns, how fitting on numbers of levels, for I have, absolutely...married my prince.
